Simbithi Eco-Estate - Security Profile
The promise of good security plays an important part in a decision to buy into a residential Estate. To ensure Simbithi Eco-Estate meets the needs of buyers in this regard, the developers have drawn on the vast experience of people with years of experience in every aspect of Estate security.

The security system at Simbithi Eco-Estate plans to start at a point where other Estates only plan to upgrade to over a period of years. Importantly, this applies to the perimeter barrier, attached detection system and access control system, together with policies and procedures.

For residents to enjoy a safe and secure lifestyle, it is important that access is denied to those with criminal intent. The quality of the perimeter security system is vital in this regard, as is the control of people through the various gates. Access control policies will reflect the Estate’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.

At the centre of the security system will be the Control Centre, which will be the communication hub for all security voice, data and video communications on the Estate. The structure will comply with the requirements of the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) and the installed equipment will have full redundancy on mission critical components to improve the reliability and quality of service.

Manned and operated on a 24/7 (24 hour, seven day per week) basis, this control facility will receive and process all security related calls, monitor all fence and domestic alarms, direct the appropriate response to such alarms, process and authorise all access requests from visitors, contractors or service personnel, and co-ordinate, direct and control the activities of all security staff.

The gates have been designed to facilitate rapid processing while security staff will be required to apply the Estate’s strict access control policy. Residents will be required to comply with policies applicable to processing and authorisation of their visitors.

Security patrols, both on foot and by vehicle, will monitor and respond to fence and house alarms, and monitor and control the movement of contractors and their labour.

Automated access through traffic booms and pedestrian turnstiles will be on the basis of issued proximity tags for residents, and photo bearing ID cards (with embedded proximity chips) for domestic and contractors labour.

Closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) will be used to monitor gates, critical areas on the perimeter and internal areas of particular concern. Pictures from all cameras will be recorded and stored at the Control Centre.

Importantly, the security system on Simbithi Eco-Estate will have been designed, installed and operated by the people who will carry the long term responsibility to the residents to ensure they live in a safe and secure environment.
