Our Estate marks its 15th year since incorporation, this year. As we enter a new chapter of the Simbithi story, it is exciting to note the various upgrades currently underway on the Estate. I am pleased to provide the following updates:
Although the Simbithi Hotel falls within the commercial zone of Simbithi, I thought it incumbent to give you an update on its development.
The Simbithi Hotel comprises 47 rooms, three penthouses, and 28 suites – a total of 78 keys to doors.
Construction of suites, and the structure in its entirety, continues. Developers are aiming to complete it by December, 2020.
Last week, introductions were made between the Mantis Group and Simbithi. The Mantis Group was appointed as the managing operator of the Simbithi Hotel. At present, they manage hotels in prestigious golf estates around South Africa, including St. Francis Links and Val De Vie Estate; and in Mauritius and France.
We are excited about the synergy this impressive project will create for the Simbithi brand. This would undoubtedly improve our offering as a community within the Estate.
Heron Community Centre & Pizzeria
These projects, which commenced earlier this year, are on schedule.
Construction at the Heron is progressing well and scheduled for completion by the end of November 2019. We envisage soft, re-opening the Heron on the 29th of November, 2019. A grand opening is scheduled for the 5th December 2019. Please save these dates: we will communicate firmer details closer to the time.
Unfortunately, there was an incident on site where one of our sub-contractors poured water-based paint into our dam. Thankfully, a resident, Mr. Matt Frank, informed us immediately and we were able to remedy what could have been catastrophic. We are happy to report that there was no damage caused to our dam, and would like to thank Mr. Frank for his prompt engagement with us on this matter. The contractor and principal agent were severely penalised for this misdemeanour.
Pro Shop/ Welcome Centre Upgrades
Work is also moving along swiftly at the Pro Shop. All construction is on schedule and we look forward to hosting an official re-opening of this new space – including the revamped Dragonfly Conference Centre – on Thursday, 28th November 2019. The Welcome Centre will be completed in the New Year, due to a delay in the delivery of furnishings. We will keep you updated.
My team and I would like to thank you, our community, for your understanding and co-operation during construction. Thank you for your patience, while we make Simbithi better.
I look forward to seeing you at the re-openings.
PLEASE NOTE: Re-openings of the Heron Community Centre is open to residents of Simbithi Eco-Estate; only. Re-opening of the Country Club facilities is open to Members, only.
