On 18 July 2024, Nelson Mandela’s birthday, individuals and organisations throughout the world dedicate 67 minutes toward community social investment (CSI), in honour of the 67 years Madiba fought for human rights.
This year, our Mandela Day campaign is a stationery drive for two schools affected severely by the recent Tongaat tornado and as such is aligned with two of Madiba’s most treasured passions, education and children. We will pack 1500 bags of stationery on our Club deck, which will be shared among learners of Seatides Combined and Sandfields Primary Schools.
Here is how you can get involved on Thursday, 18 July 2024:
- Join us from 07:30 on the Country Club deck to help our team pack the stationery. If you would like to sign up, please e-mail enquiries@simbithi.com or WhatsApp 073 156 1378.
- Donate blood in the Simbithi Gallery. The South African National Blood Service will be on-site for the morning.
- Grab a delicious breakfast from the Fig Tree, for R67, of course!
- Buy a book. Hooked on Books, a dynamic children’s educational theatre company will be on the deck with Exclusive Books. You may purchase a book to donate toward restarting the schools’ libraries, which were destroyed in the tornado.
