We are thrilled to announce the re-opening of the Fig Tree Restaurant for sit-down dining, and our Conference facilities for business purposes. Our teams are ready to welcome you back.

Minister of Tourism, Mmamalako Kubayi-Ngubane briefed the media on final directions for the re-opening of the tourism industry under Advanced Alert Level 3 on Friday afternoon. Our senior team spent the weekend analysing the Minister’s statement and ensuring the correct procedures are put in place at Simbithi Country Club. The regulations are contained in Government Gazette No. 43487.

Fig Tree Restaurant

Please note the following procedures for sit-down dining at the Fig Tree, effective immediately:

Only 50 patrons will be allowed in the restaurant, at a time. We have configured the Fig Tree as such. Booking is therefore essential, to assist us in efficiently managing our seating plan. Please contact us on 032-946 5403 to book.

Upon arrival, all patrons will:
Have their names and contact numbers recorded
Have their temperatures checked
Be screened for COVID-19 symptoms
Have their hands sanitised, before entry.
This is to assist us with maintaining the daily record of patrons to assist with contact tracing in the event of an outbreak, as directed by Government.

It is compulsory for all patrons to wear a mask upon entry, and inside the restaurant. Masks may be removed while eating and drinking. Patrons will not be allowed entry without a mask.
A distance of 1,5m will be demarcated, and maintained, between patrons and the front desk.
Buffets are suspended, until further notice. The A La Carte menu is available, for order.
Tables and chairs will be thoroughly sanitised after each use.

Waitrons and staff will maintain a social distance of at least a metre from tables.
No alcohol will be sold to sit-down diners.
Operating hours are as follows:

Fig Tree: 8am – 9pm (Mon – Sat) 8am – 4.30pm (Sun)

Please note, the Drop Zone Bar remains closed at this stage.

Our staff have received extensive training in line with our Health and Safety procedures. However, this is new territory for our team. Accordingly, we appeal to you to be patient with us, as we navigate this “new normal”. Follow the guidelines we have put in place: these are for your protection, and ours.

Yesterday, the Club also received its Letter of Acceptability from GeoChem, following an inspection of our facilities. A risk analysis was conducted in the Main and Halfway House kitchens, housekeeping and laundry areas. Our staff have been trained to maintain the required standards, in order to keep us safe. Compliance will be monitored weekly, by GeoChem.

All of the above procedures have been drafted into the latest version of our Protocol, which you will find here, and on our website.

If you have any queries, comments or concerns, please chat to our Club General Manager, Craig Nell: clubgm@simbithi.com.
