Wine & Food Pairings Make a Welcome Return

Our highly sought after wine and food pairing evenings made a gorgeous return to the Dragonfly restaurant in February.

Remhoogte’s Rob Murray Boustred joined forces with our Executive Sous Chef Louis Lesch to take guests on a journey beginning with an exquisite 2021 First Light Chenin.

An amuse bouche of pickled beet with herbed goat’s cheese and candied citrus preceded the starter: steamed mussels served in a coconut and lemongrass broth, with homemade ciabatta, accompanied by Remhoogte’s 2020 Honeybunch Chenin.

The 2017 Aspect Merlot paired sublimely with the mains; slow-roasted, deboned neck of lamb with rosemary and garlic, jacket potato topped with sour cream, charred root vegetables served with a rich lamb jus

Paving the way for dessert, the cheese course was a delight: twice baked three-cheese souffle served with pear julienne and homemade tomato jam, served with the 2018 Chronicle Cape Blend.

And, finally, the evening danced to a rousing finale with a dessert of Turkish delight meringues with mascarpone cheese and rose syrup, holding hands with Sir Thomas.

Thank you to Remhoogte for partnering with us to host this outstanding soiree.

Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of our next wine tasting and pairing dinner.
